Leading through and beyond the Covid-19 crisis

As businesses attempt to respond to COVID-19, managers can be under a lot of stress to perform their traditional roles and have the confidence to support and energise their teams during a crisis.

A couple weeks back a newly promoted manager told us how she was struggling. She explained, "Even though our jobs are safe, budgets or salaries are cut, and projects are postponed. Being comfortable having sensitive discussions doesn’t come naturally." A founder went on "Right now being a CEO is being Chief Empathy Officer, and this has exposed some weaknesses I was not conscious of."

As we speak to our clients and hear many similar stories, it is becoming clear that the number one challenge they currently face is about leading a team of people who more than ever needs clarity, connectivity, support, and engagement. Strong leadership is needed now more than ever to help companies keep moving forward.

New programme – Rising to the Challenge

To best support you during this time, we are introducing a highly focused programme for managers to develop the confidence and competence they need to lead their teams through and beyond the crisis.

Our programme, Rising to the Challenge, is delivered as a bundle of 2 group workshops coupled with 2 individual coaching sessions. Managers gain tools and techniques in each workshop to put into action immediately. About 2 weeks after each workshop, they book an individual coaching session to review what they have tried, what worked best, what didn’t work so well, and how to progress moving forward. Plus they have access to our online platform.

How to be both supportive and challenging

Being both supportive and challenging has always been central to great leadership. Today, striking this balance has become more difficult when everyone is mentally and emotionally distracted. In this workshop, we will focus on two behaviours to achieve that.

Programme format:

  • 2-hour online group training workshop for up to 6 managers
  • 30-minute 1to1 follow-up coaching session for each manager

How to keep your team cohesive and engaged

Another key dimension of being a great leader is to create an inspiring environment by rallying teams around a worthy, wildly important priority goal. In the current context, both being in control of a goal and being part of a strong team with a focused purpose will play a critical role in the well-being and engagement of team members. Focusing on what is most important will also free up some valuable mental space. In this workshop, we will focus on two competencies to achieve that.

Online leadership programmes

At inception stage our leadership programmes were designed to be run face-to-face and online over Zoom to support some of our clients’ UK and international expansion. Going online meant that all leaders in the business could benefit from the same development programme. Going online also offered the valuable opportunity to create a collaborative community, with managers from London & New-York or Northern England & Hong Kong coming together in a virtual room to network, share ideas, and learn from one another.

All our programmes offer access to a secure and private online learning platform, which contains a library of resources (key tips and practical tools from the workshops) and keeps a record of the goals and commitments made during each coaching session.
